Practice Productive Procrastination

We’ve officially moved to Melbourne but the journey to getting settled has just begun… With most of my crochet tools still packed away, it’ll be a month since I picked up a hook 😱😱😱

However this has given me more time to answer comments on Instagram and read my starred emails from you   #winning.

The one question that’s been asked a lot is:

“Why do you work on more than one project at the same time?”

The answer:

I’ve been practising Productive Procrastination – A term I learnt reading Steal like an Artist by Austin Kleon. This book is jam-packed with pearls of wisdom for anyone navigating their way through their creative journey. The author talks about borrowing inspiration from your mentors and heroes. And infusing it into your own work to create something more awesome and more original! In my opinion, it’s a must-read for everyone, not just creatives!

But back to this term productive procrastination – the idea is to have a 2-3 different project going at the same time so you jump back and forth between them. Essentially this helps with breaking creative blocks. And problem-solve common issues that pop up across projects or find more clarity in what you’re working on. This way of working as an artist has helped me keep momentum in finishing ALL my creative projects. Plus some life admin as well 😝

I know this way of working contradicts a lot of information out there at the moment. But this works for me. Everything just flows.

So if you give productive procrastination a try or end up reading the book let me know what ya think🙂 Pop me an email: I'd love to hear from you!

As always have an awesome day!

PS. I’m not affiliated with the author, brand or book mentioned here. I’ve read it. Applied it. Think it’s awesome. And wanted to share it!
