Something Old Turns to 👉 Something New x 2 😆

On one of my quarterly wardrobe declutters I came across an old crochet scarf that my sister made for me. As I pulled it out I wondered why I haven’t worn it this winter… Then I noticed it’s little injury 😟

So here I was with two options do I fix the scarf or do I unravel it and make something new… Decisions decisions...🤔🤔🤔

Realising that I hadn’t looked for it in 2 winters I decided to unravel it and make something new.

Once unravelled, cleaned and weighed I discovered I had a lot of “new” yarn to play with! YAY!

My Recycle Scarf Project:  Old Scarf Turns into 2 New Winter Accessories

First Up: Peek-A-Boo Mittens:

I’ve always wanted to design my own gloves. Because I have never been able to find gloves that fit my ridiculously small hands! So writing a crochet mitten pattern has been on my list to do for a long time now. I figured this would be a great time to try it out :-).

Ever since I was a little girl I suffered from cold hands. But have always found gloves to be restricting. So when I first discovered fingerless gloves I was as happy as a pig in poo! Not only did the fit of the gloves not matter as much but my hands were free to move.

So as I started my pattern design it was fingerless all the way! I also wanted to play around with different textures, so I decided on a ribbed cuff. And made up a fun texture for the top of the mittens.

Testing out the mittens was like playing peek-a-boo with my fingers hence the name Peek-A-Boo Mittens😁. The cool thing with this pattern is you can adjust the length of the mittens to get a perfect fit. I enjoyed designing this mitten crochet pattern. And I’m sure it won’t be my last!

Next Up: Bear Snood

Having just finished making my life size Yoda I felt inspired to keep my Star Wars theme going. Although this isn’t quite the right colours to be an Ewok snood I did feel like an Ewok wearing it

I’ve not written a pattern for this. Because there’re loads of patterns on the net by other wonderful designers. Just do a Google search if you wanna make one for yourself.

I’m pretty happy with what I turn my injured scarf into😁 The best part is I’ve still got 50g of yarn left to make something else!

PS. If you'd like a Bear Snood or Mittens made up get in touch! I'm taking custom orders🎉
