Water and Earth Boutique in Siem Reap Night Market

Wandering through the night market of Siem Reap, we stumbled on a stall called Water and Earth, a boutique that supports disadvantaged Khmer artisans who are skilled in stone and wood carving as well as weaving.

Whilst browsing through their beautiful hand-woven kramas (traditional Cambodian scarves) we heard the sound of a storm rolling in… Realising we weren’t going anywhere anytime soon I continued to look through their lovely stock.

A rail of clothing caught my eye. I loved that each top was different from the fit to the finishing. After trying on every top on the rail, I decided to buy two.

The storm got heavier, we were stuck and took a seat to wait it out. We watched as all the stall owners scurried around to cover all their merchandise, tourists running for cover and all the frogs coming out to play in the rain….

I watched all the commotion unfold in front of me and I realised I had officially broken my personal challenge. After 2.5years of not purchasing any clothing, I bought two tops in less than an hour 😲… But it felt good to be supporting local crafts 🎉

After 15 minutes and feeling quite content with my purchases, we realised the storm was here to stay. And decided to brace ourselves and start swimming… the rainy season is definitely upon us here in Cambodia!
